The home was originally built in 1932 by an enterprising dreamer, Arthur L. McKinney, who envisioned a summer artist's colony and school of drama and art on his Silver Forest land in Montana. McKinney believed that the Silver Forest's rustic wilderness beauty would be the perfect inspirational setting for artists, writers and teachers to study and perform the arts. A large personal residence was built out of large pine logs, along with the construction of a 1000 seat playhouse, named the Silver Forest Theatre and a nearby lodge.
Taking its name from the Silver Forest Theatre, the Inn opened as a B & B in 1990, treating guests to its gracious yet rustic hospitality. Recreational opportunities abound in the pristine alpine environment of the Rocky Mountains surrounding the Silver Forest Inn. Close by are national forest trails for hiking, mountain biking or 4-wheel drive exploration of the back country. Winter and summer vacation activities include skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, x-country skiing, golf, fly fishing, horseback riding, white river rafting and hunting. Take a day trip and drive through the Paradise Valley along the Yellowstone River to the majestic Yellowstone National Park - the Inn is an ideal MT destination. Or, if you're looking for a romantic weekend getaway for an anniversary, birthday or honeymoon or as a gift for a family member, the Inn is an ideal destination.
